Maths

At Burneston CE VA Primary School, we believe that every child can achieve excellence in mathematics. We believe that the language of mathematics is international, the subject transcends cultural boundaries and its importance is universally recognised. Therefore, we strive for children to have competence and confidence in their mathematical knowledge, concepts and skills and an ability to reason, solve problems, think logically and work systematically. We also believe that children should have a positive and resilient attitude towards mathematics and an understanding of the importance of mathematics in everyday life. We achieve all of these by providing a collaborative learning environment where children can express their ideas confidently, access a range of learning strategies and take responsibility for their own learning.
